Fact Sheet

PROCESS:

Fiberglass and Aluminum SamplesWe wrap real wood veneers around almost any shape. As the profiled substrate moves in a lineal fashion through our machines, the wood veneer, vinyl, or real copper foil is automatically coated with either interior or exterior adhesive and applied using a system of forming rolls.

PRODUCT APPLICATIONS:

Veneer wrapped products are used where dimensional stability, size requirements, and costs of solid wood alternatives are an issue and in circumstances where solid wood will not do the job, i.e. the veneer wrapped hardware cover used in window applications.

FEATURES AND BENEFITS:

All our finished product is 100% usable, there are no "defect cut-outs", which are allowed in the solid wood alternatives.

Our products are available in specified lengths. Unlike the solid alternative where the customer takes lengths from 3'-16', we offer the option of all 14' or 16' material at cost effective prices.

Only the "best of the best" wood fiber is sliced into veneer. This means our veneer wrapped products are consistently better quality than the alternatives.

Wood SamplesDimensionally stable - Ours is an "engineered" product with the veneer applied over another substrate material which will maintain tighter tolerances and dimensional stability.

Adhesive technology - We are one of only a few companies in the U.S. today who can properly apply and guarantee a waterproof adhesive which exceeds current standards.

With our vertical integration we control the product quality from beginning to end, relying on ourselves for veneer supply, profile tolerances, and finished specifications.

We offer mixed loads of solid, fingerjoint, or fingerjoint primed mouldings and fine sliced veneers from our sister companies Medford Moulding and Western Veneer and Slicing. Full T/L, Partials, and LTL's.

SUBSTRATE TYPES:

The "core" or substrates that we currently wrap our veneers over are:
  • Fingerjoint wood
  • Medium Density Fiberboard (MDF) both interior and exterior
  • Particle-board (available in T/L quantities only)
  • Polyvinyl chloride (PVC) or vinyl
  • Aluminum
  • Fiberglass
  • Steel

VENEER SPECIES:

Maximum lengths available:
Without fingerjoints: 16' for softwoods, 10' for hardwoods.
With fingerjoints: No limit

Fiberglass SamplesADHESIVE TYPES:

  • Interior hot melts
  • Exterior hot melts. This adhesive is waterproof, not water resistant. Our bond exceeds the commonly referred to "type 1" standard.

FINISHED PRODUCT SIZE RANGES:

  • Thickness- 1/8"-4"
  • Width- 1/2"-10"
  • Length - 32" - 16' with trimmed ends, 20' maximum untrimmed ends.
Note: The widest veneer which can be applied is 11-1/2". This means the maximum surface area from edge to edge of any wrapped product can not exceed a total of 11-1/2".

PACKAGING :

We offer 3" x10" cardboard cartons on our smaller millwork items (40 boxes per unit) and top capped stretch wrapped units on the larger jamb and frame items. Both packaging methods are designed for product protection during transit and storage.

MINIMUM PRODUCT RUNS:

Per customer requirements.

ORDER ENTRY PROCESS:

Customer specific items - submit drawing or sample for quotation. We will advise if modification is required for wrapping purposes.

Items of information we need to know to provide an accurate quotation:

  • Veneer species (fingerjointed or solid)
  • Substrate type required
  • Product lengths
  • Volumes
  • What surface is to be wrapped
  • End use of product
  • Glue type
Standard items - submit a purchase order listing quantity, unit of measure i.e. pieces, lineal feet, item size (thickness, width, and length), and item description. Sold to and ship to information including address, phone, and fax. All orders are acknowledged in writing.

LEAD TIMES:

Normal lead times are 4-6 weeks. There are times and circumstances when we can do better if we have a standard item in inventory or are scheduled to run a standard item. Customer specific profiles requiring modification, drawing approval, etc. will require additional time.
